Course Description

Course Description:

CMS implemented new survey guidelines on November 28, 2017. This includes Regulation Reform, F-Tag Renumbering, New Interpretive Guidance (IG), A New LTC Survey Process, LTC Surveyor Training, and State Preparation. The new survey includes aspects from both of the two prior survey processes which were the Traditional Survey and the QIS survey. Since the new protocols are dramatically different than the prior LTC surveys, many operators are reporting difficulties and questions about what to expect when their survey team arrives.

And though LTC teams may have survived their 2018 survey, subsequent year’s surveys are expected to be more complicated. This course will include a comprehensive review of each section of the new survey, to include sub-sections and expectation of each. Guidance will be offered on the newest components, to include the areas of Person-Centered Care, QAPI, Facility Assessment, and Antibiotic Stewardship. Trends will be cited regarding top-cited F-tags and the survey trends of deficiencies, fines, and IJs. Finally, example scenarios and recommendations for avoiding high-frequency F-TAGS will be shared to complete the learning experience.
